Majeska Majeska began Hawaiian hula in 1980. Her initial training was through Barbara Long Dance Arts in Des Moines, Iowa. She furthered her study throughout the years, adding Tahitian, Samoan, and Maori dancing to her repertoire, most notably studying with Pat Kerr from Wichita, Kansas; kumu hula, Keith Awai, Slyvana (Tahitian), Pulefano (Samoan) and Charlene (Maori) from the Polynesian Cultural Center in Hawaii. Majeska founded Aloha Wind in 1992. Majeska has taught at Kim Lewis Dance Center in Ankeny, Iowa, the Dance Place in West Des Moines, Iowa, and through Octagon Center for the Arts in Ames, Iowa.

Aloha Wind is a Polynesian dance group based in the greater central Iowa. Aloha Wind has a strong presence in Des Moines, Ames, and surrounding communities. We perform a variety of dances from Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa, and New Zealand. Aloha Wind’s goals are to educate, as well as to entertain, our audiences about the beauty, power, and diversity of the dances of the South Pacific.
